Organization History
Inspired by personal sacrifice, ambition, experiences and friendships, the vision of Empowering Through Education was given roots. The organization focuses on family commitments, comprehension, resources and information. Through community relationships, parent-involvement, community and private industry partnerships, and leadership we foster relationships to provide continued and positive affirmation-of-service and commitment to improve our city, community, and children.
Overwhelmingly, the dropout rate has steadily been increasing among particular and identified cultures and demographics. Foreshadowing this trend and recognizing the history of the decline of education the leadership and partnerships of ETE found an opportunity and a corridor to be of service and a bridge to changing this trend. On June 9, 2004, the Founder and Chairman founded Empowering Through Education, Inc. with the assistance and faith of several dedicated volunteers and distinguish community activists.
Tragedy accompanies this push to provide resources, services, financial assistance, forward thinking, progressive action, and public displays of strength, commitment and assertiveness. As many documented stories and public outcries have been heralded, many have been left to find their way or settle for mediocrity and disillusionment, butut purpose and direction were birthed from the same discord.
Empowering Through Education, Inc. (ETE) is a non-profit organization, as defined by the IRS Code 501(c)3, and is charted by the State of Texas. It is a grass-roots organization, founded by Joe Gordon in 2003 and was incorporated on June 9, 2004 in Houston, Texas.
